Flavonoids and Eye Health

Flavonoids, natural compounds found in various fruits, vegetables, and herbs, have been studied for their potential role in promoting eye health. Flavonoids and Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

Age-related macular degeneration is a leading cause of vision loss in older adults. Research suggests that flavonoids may help protect against AMD by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, which are key contributors to the development and progression of the disease. Flavonoids, such as anthocyanins found in berries and flavonols abundant in green leafy vegetables, have shown potential in preserving retinal health and preventing AMD (Smith et al., 2022).
